SME - small and medium sized employers generally with 10 or less employees will belong to a regional employer association.
Large corporations - An example is Qantas and generally operate independently on employment relations matters and have their own human resources management, and industrial relations team.

Why were employer associations formed?

To counter the power of trade unions.
To look after the the interest of the organisation.
Provide an opposition to labour market legislation.
