Q

3 phases of ARDS

A

exudative (wk 1) - neutrophils, hyaline membranes
proliferative (wk 2) - interstitial infiltrates, early fibrosis, prolif of type 2 pneumocytes
fibrotic (>21d) - fibrosis - most dont get this

9
Q

lung support in ARDS

A
ventilation - low tidal vol at 6 ml/kg
recruit lungs by Pos End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP)
minimize O2 tox by keeping FiO2 <60%
minimize acidosis
diuresis to keep on dry side
