Mass is never gained or lost in a chemical reaction, no new atoms are created or destroyed/disappear.

What happens to the mass when zinc reacts with oxygen?
A
The mass of the white powder is greater than the initial mass of zinc. This increase in mass is because the zinc had combined with oxygen from the air to form zinc oxide.
