86WG SI(OPS) 03-111 Airfield Policy Flashcards
State adequate airfield RWY characteristics
Minimum width 45m
Length, width and slope must be sufficient to meet performance requirements
State minimum width for 180 degree turn.
50.5m
Authorisation requires for 180 degree turns on runways not at least this wide.
State min taxiway width and ICAO code for manoeuvring areas used by KC30
23m
ICAO code 4E
State ATS service requirements outside AUS territory and within
Outside: must have ATS available, callout services acceptable if actioned within 30mins of notification.
Inside: CTAF acceptable provided that PAL is available.
Minimum RFF category for adequate airfield outside Australia?
4/B (at not more than 30 mins notice)
In addition to adequate airfield requirements, a standard airfield requires the following:
ARFFS 8/D
ATS services should be arranged for arrivals and departures, CO/XO auth required for CTAF.
Destination alternate airfields inside Australia may be CTAF without CO/XO approval.
When is a TAKE OFF alternate airfield required?
Whenever MET conditions at departure airfield are forecast to be below landing minima within 30 mins after the estimated time of departure.
State requirements for takeoff alternates on non-ETOPS and ETOPS flights
Non-ETOPS: takeoff alternate must be located within 407NM (60 min diversion distance at nominated nil wind single engine speed VMO) with forecast conditions above landing minima.
ETOPS: takeoff alternate above ETOPS dispatch weather minima must be within 1200nm (180 minute diversion distance established at 310kias, 210t)
State Destination alternate planning requirements
At least one alternate shall be planned unless the destination is an isolated airfield.
When is a destination considered an isolated airfield?
- if the fuel required (alternate + FFR) to the nearest destination alternate airfield is more than two hours at normal cruise consumption
- if forecast weather conditions at the isolated airfield are at or above alternate weather minimum from 30 mins before ETA to 2 hours after ETA. Inter and tempo deteriorations do not need to be considered.
State the En route alternate airfield requirements for Non-ETOPS and ETOPS flights
Non-ETOPS: must remain within 407nm (60min) of en route alternate airfields where forecast weather conditions are above applicable airfield landing minima.
ETOPS: must remain within 1200nm (180 mins) of adequate airfields that meet ETOPS dispatch weather minima as contained within SI(OPS) 03-156
State standard and alternate ARFFS for KC30
Standard 8/D
Alternate 6/C
