If propeller fails to feather during loiter shutdown…
Perform Prop Fails to Feather procedure.
- If feathered during first 4 steps, complete Loiter Shutdown.
- if not, continue Prop Fails to Feather and Emergency Shutdown Checklist
If propeller rotates backwards…
Momentarily pull feather button to UNFEATHER until rotation stops then put back into neutral position.
What should you do prior to blade positioning for less buffet?
Depress PCO switch for 10 seconds.
Why do we depress PCO during completion of the restart checklist?
To ensure proper operation of the aux pump/feather valve solenoid
Feather button light remains on following PCO
- pull E-handle( if light goes out, push back in and cont.)
- pull prop feather control cb and investigate
- reset cb and continue restart if normal but if not, complete Emergency Shutdown Checklist
Blade angle/rotation observed after PCO…
Emergency Shutdown Procedure
Feather valve light remains on steady after rpm stabilizes…
Secure restart by pushing in feather button and Emergency Shutdown Checklist (there might be a fluid leak)
If NTS INOPR light illuminates
Execute memory items and don’t attempt another restart
If you see blade angle but no rotation…
push feather button in and use the engine starter until you get rotation then pull starter button, note air rise and continue with step 3. (Feather button unfeather)
In the event of premature light off…
- Continue restart
- Once engine on speed, turn on fuel and ignition switch
- complete in-flight restart checklist
- troubleshoot
If no oil px indicated after start…
Secure with feather button
If no light off in 10 seconds…
Push in feather button. (another attempt can be made to restart)
- Emergency Shutdown Procedure
Shutdown with E-handle if…
1: TIT < 850
2: No oil px by 35% in the event of premature light-off
3: Engine rpm stagnates or decays
If either or both Prop Pump lights don’t extinguish by 55%…
Continue restart and abort mission.
