What is the purpose of the design mix?
The design mix - cost, aesthetics, function helps to represent the brand, in the eyes of the customer.
What is the purpose of a database?
Databases are used to store records and to search for information. Tables contain records, and the individual fields are used to find the selected information.
What is the purpose of the marketing mix?
The marketing mix is used to correctly place a product in the market.
What are the components of the marketing mix?
Product, price, promotion, and place all need to be carefully balanced in order to ensure product success.
What is the purpose of presentation software?
Presentation software is used to present concise information in a digital form that is dual-coded (words and pictures) and is easy to navigate.
What is the product life cycle?
The product life cycle shows the life of the product in a market, from introduction, through growth to maturity and decline.
What is a spreadsheet used for?
Spreadsheets are used to show the results of calculations and to compare the information using charts.
What is profit?
Profit is where the total revenue (money from customers) is higher than the total costs (money spent by the business).
How can I use a spreadsheet to convert data into information?
Spreadsheets need to be formatted, and formulas entered to calculate the results. The information can be converted into charts to make it easy to interpret.
What is a sole trader?
A person who owns and controls the business, making all the decisions and keeping all the profits.
What is a partnership?
A group of people who own and control the business and share decisions and profits.
What is a private limited company (Ltd)?
A privately owned business where shareholders are invited to invest in the company.
What is a public limited company (Plc)?
A public company where shares are sold on the stock exchange and members of the public can buy shares in the company.
When would job production be used?
Job production would be used for one-off products, made to customer specification.
Example: A wedding cake.
When would batch production be used?
Batch production would be used to make similar products using similar machinery.
Example: Warburtons seeded bread.
