What makes up the upper respiratory tract?
Where does the URT terminate?
At larynx C6 before trachea
How many lobar bronchi are there in the right and left main bronchi?
Right= 3
Left =2
What is the position of the phrenic and vagus nerve relative to the roots of the lungs?
Vagus= disappears behind the root of the lung (posterior)
Phrenic= lies anterior to the root of the lung to diaphragm
What is the motor / sensory innervation of the LRT?
Sympathetic fibres from pulmonary plexus
Parasympathetic fibres from vagus nerve
What is the arterial/ venous supply of the LRT?
bronchial arteries from thoracic aorta and intercostal arteries, bronchial veins drain into azygos venous system
What is the bifurcation of the trachea called?
carina
Which bronchi is wider and more vertical?
Right main bronchi
Do bronchioles have cartilage or glands?
