What are costovertebral joints?
Joints of the head of the rib which articulate with the superior costal facet of the corresponding vertebrae and the inferior costal facet of the vertebrae superior to it.

Tubercle of the rib with transverse process

What are sternocostal joints? What type of joints are they?
Costal cartilage with sternum
1st rib= synchondrosis primary cartilaginous, the rest are synovial plane
What is the role of scalene and sternocladomastoid in respiration?
Forced inspiration
What muscles are used for inspiration?
Diaphragm but can also use external intercostal for forced inspiration
What muscles are used for expiration vs forced expiration
Passive so none
Forced= Internal intercostal muscles, rectus abdominis, external and internal obliques and transversus abdominis
