Post 1965 how are churches made
They are made with the purpose of allowing as many people as possible to see and join in,The altar is also more towards the centre of the congregation
What was St Anselm’s belief of redemption
He believes that Jesus paid our ransom for our sin by dying and being punished whilst being innocent.We were slaves to sin but set free by his paying of our ransom
What was St Irenaues’s belief over redemption
He believes that Adam and Eve gave us sin and broke the bond between Humans and God through eating of the tree.Jesus died on the cross made of a tree and restored the bond between God and humans
Why is salvation past
We are saved due to Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross and this takes the punishment and allows us to be saved
Why is salvation present
It’s ongoing as whilst Christ sacrificed himself for us we still need to repent and ask for forgiveness and accept Christ’s sacrifice to be saved
Why is salvation future
In the future God will come back and salvation will be full as the power of sin is destroyed
What is conscience
The inner voice of God in our minds that Guides our decisions and tells us right and wrong
How can christians educate their conscience
By reading holy scriptures such as the bible and the 10 commandments and 2 great commandments from Jesus
What is the lectern
Its the place where the readings are read from at the front of the church
What is an altar
Place of sacrifice, from where the bread and wine are offered to God at mass
What is a crucifix
A model or image of the cross with Jesus crucified on it
What is a tabernacle
It is a box where the consecrated bread is kept after the mass
What does using a table at mass remind the congregation
It reminds the congregation that the mass is a re-enactment of the last supper
What is a cross a symbol of
Christ’s victory over sin and death
How is redemption shown in the introduction to mass
Catholics come together to celebrate the mass and apologise to God and each other for their sins
How is redemption shown in the readings during mass
Atleast 3 readings are given from the Bible, with one always taken from the gospels. The readings remind catholics that God has guided his people
How is redemption shown in the eucharist at mass
The priest repeats the words that Jesus said at the last supper. At the end Jesus is fully present in the bread and wine and the command to eat and drink enables christians to share in Jesus’ offering made to God on the cross
How is redemption shown in communion
The priest offers the bread and wine to everyone in the congregation. Catholics recieve the body and blood of christ which binds them to christ and the new covanent
How is redemption shown at the end of mass
The priest blesses and dismisses the congregation. Catholics leave the church to share the presence of christ with everyone they meet, so helping to spread the kingdom of god
What is the eucharist
The body and blood of Jesu Christ truly present on the altar under the appearences of bread and wine
What is salvation
Salvation means being saved from sin, done by God as he sent his son Jesus to save us from sin
What is the ascension
When Jesus went up to heaven to be seated at the right hand side of God
