What is it?

It’s a consensus theory that sees society living harmoniously, it says that society needs social order and solidarity.

They believe education is meritocratic, why?
A
School prepares us for meritocratic society - without school society wouldn’t be meritocratic (the body analogy)

What is the functional explanation of hierarchies in society?
A
The most talented individuals should be educated to the most important jobs.
Everyone has an equal chance of achieving them it’s down to the the individual not the institution.
