Identify the round ligament of the uterus.
passes anteriorly toward the deep inguinal ring.
Identify the uterine tube and the following regions
- Fimbriae
- Infundibulum
- Ampulla
- Isthmus
Fimbrae: finger-like processes extending from the infundibulum that are found near the ovary
Infundibulum, the funnel-shaped, distal end
Ampulla, the largest, middle part
Isthmus: the proximal part that connects to the uterus
Identify the proper ovarian ligament.
- Attached to the uterus laterally just below the origin of the uterine tube.
- Thickened connective tissue cord found within the broad ligament connecting the ovary to the uterus
Identify the ovarian suspensory ligament
Conveys ovarian vessels, lymphatics, and nerves
Identify the broad ligament and the following subdivisions
- Mesovarium:
- Mesosalpinx:
- Mesometrium:
- Mesovarium: suspends ovary
- Mesosalpinx: suspends uterine tube
- Mesometrium: suspends most of uterus
Identify the urinary bladder
