?
Identify the muscles of the anterior leg: Tibialis anterior Extensor hallucis longus Extensor digitorum longus Fibularis tertius What are these innervated by? What are their main function?
Fxn: mainly dorsiflexion of ankle and extension of toes
Innervation; Deep fibular nerve L5-S2
Specific functions of anterior leg muscles
iii. Tibialis anterior
1. Attachments: Proximally, lateral condyle, superolateral tibia, and interosseus membrane; Distally, medial cuneiform and base of MT 1
2. Actions: dorsiflex ankle, invert foot, support medial longitudinal arch of foot
iv. Extensor digitorum longus
1. Attachments: Proximally, lateral condyle of tibia and superoanterior interosseus membrane, distally, middle and distal phalanges of lateral 4 digits
2. Actions: extends lateral 4 digits; dorsiflexes ankle
v. Extensor hallucis longus
1. Attachments: Proximally, middle part of anterior fibula and interosseus membrane; distally, dorsal base of great toe’s distal hallux
2. Actions: extends great toe, dorsiflexes ankle
vi. Fibularis tertius
1. Attachments: Proximally, inferoanterior fibula and interosseus membrane; distally, dorsal base of 5th MT
2. Actions: dorsiflexes ankle, aids foot eversion
Identify the anterior tibial artery

?
Identify the rascals pedis artery
?
Identify the deep fibular nerve
?
Identify the lateral tarsal artery, arcuate artery, dorsal metatarsal artery, and deep plantar artery
?
Identify the extensor digitorum brevis
originates from the dorsal surface of the calcaneus and inserts onto the dorsal aponeuroses at the base of the middle phalanges of the 2nd to 4th toes.
Innervation: Deep fibular nerve (L5, S1).
acts to extend the 2nd to 4th toes at the metatarsophalangeal (MPT) joint and the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint.
