- serve the landing runway
- serve a runway to which an approach is being made but a/c will land on another runway
Between sunrise and sunset
- ceiling is less the 1000’ or prevailing vi is 5 miles or less
- landing runway served by the lights
- a runway serbed by the lights but a/c are landing on another runway
- a/p but landing will made ona runway served by the lights
- as requested by the pilot
- as you deem necessary, not contrary to pilot’s request
What should you to with ALS in the interest of energy conservation?
Turn them off when not needed for a/c ops
What are the ALS Intensity setting criteria for step 5 (night/day)
day = less than 1 mile night = when requested
What are the ALS Intensity setting criteria for step 4 (night/day)
day = 1 to but not including 3 miles night = when requested
What are the ALS Intensity setting criteria for step 3 (night/day)
day = 3 to but not including 5 miles night = less than 1 mile
What are the ALS Intensity setting criteria for step 2 (night/day)
day = 5 to but not including 7 miles night = 1 to 3 miles inclusive
What are the ALS Intensity setting criteria for step 1 (night/day)
day = when requested night = greater than 3 miles
When do you operate sequenced flashing lights?
when vis is less than 3 miles and instrument approaches are being made to the runway served by the associated ALS
- as requested by pilot
- as you deem necessary, if not contrary to pilot’s request
