What is a superpower?
a nation or countries which have global influence round the world

Definitions:
Hard- forceful ways to influence global areas (military)
Soft- gentle ways to influence (cultural)
What are the overall factors which make a superpower?
Physical size and geographical location- larger countries tend to have more natural resources and influence over neighbouring countries E.g. Russia
Economic power- top 3 are USA, China, Germany and these control investment, have powerful currencies like the dollar and determine economic policies
Demographic- China has large population which means lots of cheap labour and countries outsource here
Political- promoting global development
Military strength- used for protection, USA spend money in researching which is why the tech is so advanced
Cultural- tv and newspapers show political viewpoints and globalisation has spread cultures globally
Access to natural resources- oil and metals are significant but this doesn’t guarantee power as tncs can take such as shell oil in africa
