Q

What are the overall factors which make a superpower?

A

Physical size and geographical location- larger countries tend to have more natural resources and influence over neighbouring countries E.g. Russia

Economic power- top 3 are USA, China, Germany and these control investment, have powerful currencies like the dollar and determine economic policies

Demographic- China has large population which means lots of cheap labour and countries outsource here

Political- promoting global development

Military strength- used for protection, USA spend money in researching which is why the tech is so advanced

Cultural- tv and newspapers show political viewpoints and globalisation has spread cultures globally

Access to natural resources- oil and metals are significant but this doesn’t guarantee power as tncs can take such as shell oil in africa
