When may other than the 4006 be carried a as primary firearm?
Qualified secondary firearms may be carried as the primary firearm ONLY while traveling to, during and returning from court in civilian attire in a privately owned vehicle.

Never, the 4006 is required to be immediately available while in a patrol vehicle regardless of destination or attire.

TWO secondary firearms are authorized and they must be documented on a CHP 4, (the primary weapon is also documented on a CHP 4)

Employees may miss up to three as long as they make them up. (3-1, 1a1)
How many shot gun shoots are required?
Quarterly. Two qualifying shoots (6 rounds each) are required along with two additional practice shoots, one of which shall be at night.

An original CHP 311 shall be prepared every 4 years and for any additional firearms not included on the original form.
