What is an Operational Plan?
It is the “Blueprint” of a job, listing all the strategic information necessary for a team to operate and protect the Principal in a safe and controlled environment during an operation
What are some reasons for Operational Plans?
Operational planning is designed to inform new or unavailable members of the CP team of the job at hand.
Ideally, a new member of the team should be able to be put on the job, pick up the operational plan and know from this what the job is, who you are protecting, any threats both past and current, the venues being visited, along with the routes both primary and secondary.
There are 5 Key Documents part of an Operational Plan. Name them.
- Principle Profile
- Operational Pplan
- Threat & Risk Assessment
- Venue Security Plan(s)
- Route Recce Report
Elaborate on the 1st Key Document of the Operational Plan.
- Principal Profile
Details of the Principal, private live, history, threats, general information on the Principal that the team should be aware of
Elaborate on the 2nd Key Document of the Operational Plan.
- Operational Plan
Contains details of the operation such as Team details, call signs, required equipment, intention, method to be used, contingency plans, threat assessment, emergency support, weather report, any additional information etc.
Elaborate on the 3rd Key Document of the Operational Plan.
- Threat & Risk Assessment
Contains known/anticipated threats against the Principal
Elaborate on the 4th Key Document of the Operational Plan.
- Venue Security Plan(s)
Contains full details of the venue(s) together with Threat & Risk Assessment of the venue(s)
Elaborate on the 5th Key Document of the Operational Plan.
- Route Recce Report
Contains full details of the Primary and Secondary routes to be used, plus contingency arrangements and other information such as embus and debus points at venues, driver’s parking arrangements, etc.
