7. Heart angiology Flashcards
Off of the ascending aorta, the right coronary A. has what branches? (7)
- Sinuatrial nodal A
- conus branch
- atrial branch (of right coronary A)
- right marginal A
- atrioventricular nodal A
- posterior interventricular A
- right posterolateral A
What coronary artery supplies more blood to the heart?
the left coronary artery
What branches off the left coronary A from the ascending aorta?(6)
Anterior interventricular A conus branch lateral (diagonal) A circumflex A which leads to left marginal A and posterior left ventricular A
What is used for a coronary bypass surgery when a coronary artery is blocked?
Either the great saphenous vein or the nearby radial A
What is the procedure where insertion of a small baloon catheter into the lumen of the coronary artery, it is inflated to obstruct the obstruction to improve blood flow
Coronary angioplasty
What supplies the medial and lateral mammary area?
Internal thoracic A has perforating branches which peirce the rib cage and supply medial mammary A, while axillary A (off of subclavian) has lateral thoracic A which is the second source for mammary area providing the lateral mammmary A
** also lateral mammary from posterior intercostal A
What are the differences between unpaired visceral branches, paired lateral visceral, and paired segmental parietal branches of the thoracic descending aorta?
unpaired visceral: one branch to visceral
Paired lateral visceral: two branches (one on each side) to lateral visceral
Paired segmental parietal: one on each side, follow body wall
What are examples of unpaired visceral branches of the descending aorta? (3)
mediastinal A
esophogeal A
pericardial A
What are examples of paired lateral visceral branches of the descending aorta? (2)
left and right bronchial A
What are some examples of paired segmental parietal branches? (1 with branches)
Posterior intercostal A with dorsal branches, collateral branches, and lateral cutaneous A, lateral mammary branch
What is a pulmonary embolism?
Obstruction of a pulmonary A by an embolus such as blood clot, fat or air bubble. The embolus passes from a vein through the right side of the heart into the pulmonary arteries, obstructing Artery!
Where is you coronary sinus and anterior cardiac Vs located?
Anterior cardiac veins can be found going into the right artium, and coronary sinus is found in the left atrioventricular groove
What runs together with the anterior interventricular A (off of the left coronary A)?
Great cardiac vein (also runs with circumflex A)
What runs together with the right marginal A off of the right coronary A?
small cardiac Vein
What runs with the posterior interventricular A from the right coronary A?
middle cardiac V
