A

The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world. They contain approximately one fifth of the world’s fresh water. Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world. Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake that does not touch Canada. The four remaining lakes are shared by the United States and Canada and form part of the boundary between the two countries. The Great Lakes are at different heights above sea level. Niagara Falls is located between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The St. Lawrence Seaway is a waterway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes.

Q

Explain the Canadian system of government. Include at least 3 important facts.

A

Canada’s government is a constitutional monarchy. Canada recognized the British monarch as head of state, although Canada is an independent country. The leader of the nation is the prime minister. Canada has a Parliament similar to the United States Congress. Another leader in Canada’s government is the governor general, who is the personal representative of the British monarch.
