Bramho samaj

A
  • began by Raja rammohan roy (1828)
  • rejected iconography / image worship
  • rejected sati -> role in it’s abolishan
  • Roy -> 2 schools
  • Roy died -> movement led by Devendranath tagore ->criticised missionaries for forced conversions
  • Keshavachandra sen -> radical -> broke from bramho samaj -> created ‘bhartiya brahmo samaj’ -> split their too -> ‘sadharan bramho samaj’ -> could not sustain
