Shallow Acetabulum resulting in Femur Slipping out of the Socket
What are the Risk Factors of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hips?
- Breech Presentation
- 1st Degree Relative with it
- Multiple Birth
- Female
- 1st Child
- Large Birth Weight
What is Examined in Developmental Dysplasia of the Hips?
- Leg Length
- General Movement of the Legs
- Groin Crease
- Ortolani / Barlow Test
- Ultrasound
What is involved in Barlow Test?
Push Down in the Hip to cause Dislocation
What is involved in Ortolani Test?
Lateral Rotation of the Hip
Why is the Groin Crease Examined?
They Illustrate the Appearance of Dislocated Hips
Note - Long Fold suggests Dislocation

- Relocation
- Pavlik Harness
- Surgical Reduction
What is the Treatment of Accessory Digits?
Most are Removed by a Plastic Surgeon
