Q

To Sleep, No Doubt to Dream Legacy (3 things)

A

(1) He also found that the use of alcohol or barbituates increase your tendency to fall asleep, but suppress REM time.
(2) Recent research suggests that a greater synthesis of proteins takes place during REM, and some believe that these changes may represent the process of integrating new information.
(3) Another recent study contends that humans develop a kind of protoconscious during REM . This research proposes that early REM sleep provides us with a virtual model of our waking world that assists us in carrying out the tasks of our normal life while awake.
