Q

how do architects and planners create meaningful and authentic places

A

architecture can make an important contribution to placemaking through the design of individual buildings, architects design public spaces and the buildings can reflect the history of a place making it more individual.

in the UK local authorities have their own planning departments who have to approve architects plans and have overall power over placemaking - can transform a place completely

A

due to the PFL created by inequality mixed communities try and prevent this. A range of cheap and expensive housing is built in one place so people of all levels of wealth and inequality can live in the same place and have access to the same services
