A

locations may be perceived differently if they have spiritual meaning. Religions give buildings meaning like Mosques and places like Jerusalem religious people have a strong connection to these places

how does globalisation/ space-time affect perception of place (globalisation)

A

as the world is more interconnected it takes less time to reach another place and everything is more connected. For some people this means they no longer feel at home in a location they’ve lived all their lives due to homogenisation and clone towns and westernization as they erode the identity of a place.
Some people prefer this faster interconnections their relations take place easily within a larger space. Some may retreat into a smaller individual world which has few interactions beyond it

Why do Catalan’s have a strong emotional attachment to the place (tradition)

A

37% of population speak Catalan, they have traditions separate to the Spanish like Castells which are human towers which creates a sense of identity
Camp Nou was historically the only place that people could speak Catalan

A

due to the coastline they have a range of seafood that is what catalan cuisine is known for like the black rice which has squid ink in it
The range of climate also creates a range of crops like grapes and olives

A

Gaudi built the Sagrada Familia, park Guel and Picasso lived there as well- they created cubism movement in Catalan which meant there’s lots of mosaic

Dry stone masonry uses traditional Catalan techniques
these create a sense of identity to the place and a shared history
