Q

What are the four steps of inhalation?

A
  1. The intercostal muscles between your ribs contract, pulling your ribcage up and out.
  2. Your diaphragm contracts, so it moves downwards and flattens.
  3. These movements increase the volume inside your chest.
  4. This lowers the pressure inside your chest, so air moves out your lungs from outside.
