5.5 - Fundamental Concepts of TQM (Establishing Control Value Ranges) Flashcards

Q
Establishing Control Value Ranges
A
(1) Select appropriate controls. Commonly assayed in the clinical chemistry laboratory are levels I and II controls.
(2) Assay them repeatedly overtime. At least 20 data points are needed. This allows the determination of the mean and standard deviation of control materials
(3) Represent any procedural variation. Assay may be done by different performers, different times of the day.
(4) Determine degree of variability in the data to establish acceptable range.
