Q

Por que el potasio debe reponerse en solución salina y no dextrosa

A

La glucosa administrada con potasio, lo que hace es estimular la liberación de insulina, está a su vez induce la utilización de glucosa por las células, pero al entrar glucosa a la célula también arrastra potasio, esto puede agravar una hipokalemia que se quiere corregir

Q

maniobras de lepold

A

Leopold maneuvers are hand movements They are performed by gynecologists, obstetric nurses and midwives to determine the position of the fetus and make recommendations regarding birth.

1️⃣Leopold’s maneuver. It is performed in a position on the right and facing the patient, palpating the upper abdomen with both hands. To identify which fetal pole is occupying the fundus of the uterus using Leopold’s maneuvers, the “3 R’s” are used. The fetal head is usually palpated as a mass; Round, Regular and Resistant. While in the case of the fetal buttocks, they are palpated as a mass; Soft, Large and Irregular.
2️⃣Leopold’s maneuver. The examiner should always face the patient. One hand should apply constant pressure while the opposite hand palpates the opposite side of the abdomen. The palms of the hands are used for palpation and deep but gentle pressure should be applied. To complete the maneuver, the examiner switches hands.
3️⃣Leopold’s maneuver. As in the previous maneuvers, the examiner must face the patient. Using the thumb and fingers of one hand, a claw-like palpation is performed above the pubic symphysis. The opposite hand can rest on one of the sides of the abdomen to facilitate the maneuver.
4️⃣Leopold’s maneuver. To perform the maneuver, the pubic symphysis must first be located and palpated above it. Palpation is performed with the fingertips of both hands and from the lower edge of the uterus to the pubic symphysis.
