Airport development -
In 2015, there was a decision to expand Heathrow after 12 years of debate with the cost of £18.6 billion, its expansion could regenerate £100 billion of benefits protect the current 114,000 jobs in place and create 70,000 new ones, there cons to this from Many MP’s and local and national protest groups to protect rural England so not everyone agrees. Increased capacity is expected to attract more international flights, enhancing business and tourism opportunities
High speed two (HS2) -
From Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds and is key to a large-scale Northern Powerhouse regeneration scheme, however there are such effects of the cost and those living nearby that are effected from route line up North. the journey from London to Birmingham will be reduced from 1 hour 21 minutes to about 52 minutes. There are different types of regeneration that occur from such development of local and national government s such as -

Planning decisions like Fracking -
Seen as a national priority to increase energy supplies thus increasing security of the UK who is seen as energy insecure. This is seen to worsen from the idea 70% of its gas will need to be imported by 2020. On such areas like Lancashire and the Lake District.
International deregulation -
The deregulation of capital markets since 1970 have made it much easier for companies and for foreign companies to invest in the UK’s infrastructure.
Migration policy -
Opening the UK’s boarders has seen to help some areas more than others regenerate especially in local areas. 1.2 million have settled in the UK giving birth to 21,000 children alone in 2012.
