4.5.9 Flashcards
Define Plan and Control ?
Based on the design, all
elements come together in a
balanced plan, the execution
of which is controlled.
What is a PMP?
• Owned by Project Manager • Starts with the Business Case • Sets out the work needed for the project • Plan a stage at a time for larger projects (rolling wave planning) • When approved it provides a baseline for regular reviews and for change control • Must be formally updated throughout the project
What is the purpose of PMP?
- Describes scope, deliverables, timescales, roles and responsibilities • Communicates strategies and plans to a wider audience • Provides a baseline for further measurement and analysis • Key document for recording and reporting plan variations • Forms a “contract” between the Project Manager and Sponsor • Provides a basis for continuity throughout the life cycle
What is the project baseline definition?
An approved plan for the project against which project
performance is measured, to facilitate management
decision making and action
What is the purpose of project baseline?
This is achieved by:
• Clear identification of the schedule of the deliverables, activities,
milestone dates, resources and costs.
• Measurement of Project Performance
• Progress and performance are compared against the baseline
The baseline serves other purposes:
• Motivating the team to deliver to plan, or to mitigate delays
• Contractual or other reference to measure and assess the effect
of change
• Improving future estimating
What is project variance?
A quantifiable deviation, departure or divergence away from a known baseline or expected value.
What are the information principles ?
Relevant, Clear, Timely, Accurate.
What is change control?
The process through which all requests to change the
baseline scope of a project are captured, evaluated and
then approved, rejected or deferred
List of project close out activities.
• Prepare a handover and closure plan as part of the PMP • Final testing closeout against the established acceptance criteria • Handover to operations for on-going maintenance and support and obtain acceptance • Prepare for the Post Project Review • Finalise Lessons Learnt to be shared with other projects • Prepare for the Benefit Realisation Review
