Define motivation
The reasons for acting or behaving in a certain way
Salary and wage in motivating employees
Pay is money given to an employee in return for work or service.
This mat be employees wage/salary.
To motivate some employees a business may decide to pay them more,to give them a “pay rise”
Commision in motivating employees
Employee revieves a reward for every sale made.
* so e jobs are advertised eith “OTE” ehich means on target earnings and gives the employee an idea of how much commision they can earn
Profit sharing in motivating employees
-a profit is a benefit paid to employees based on the level lf profit made by the business.
-this helps motivate employees to increase profits for yhe buiness and keep costs down
Training in motivating employees
-Employees who are motivated and engaged with business and their own careers want to gain more skills
-staff who are well trained and competent at their job will be happier and more motivated as they will be confident in what they are doing
-Many workers join a business to acquire new skills or get quality training
Responsibility in motivating employees
-autonomy means allowing employees to make their own descisions.
-employees feel more ownership of their own work and so are more motivated
-employees able to use theirnown thinking skills to complete their work at their pace
-employees may become unhappy as need more direction in work and want recognition

Items an employee revieve in addition to their notmal wage or salary
-often increases lyalty to company as these benefits are not always taxed or are taxed at a reduced rate

What is autocratic management style
-this is style when managers need to tell their employees what they want done and how they want it done
-direct orders are given and to be followed
-opinions from employees are not taken to account by managers, who just issue orders
-factories,fast food,armed forces
What is democratic management style
-manager offer guifance to employees, but also participate in descision making but do allow input from other group members
-employees have greater involvement in descision-making wich can be motivating
What is paternalistic management style
-managers decide ehat is best for the business and employees
* employees are consulted but leader makes the final descison
* Have on dominant person who treats all employees
What is laissez-faire management style
-Where employees can carry out sctivities and make descisions freely
-work in relaxed environment and have little direction and guidelines
-advantage- superb in creative environments
-disadvatntage- lack of supervision may lead to poor productivity and lack of motivation
