A business will recruit to fill in skill gaps. What is a skill gap?
A skill gap is the differenve between the skills the business wants and the skills the employees have. Will do it by hiring employees with the skills they need
What is internal recruitement
Internal recruitement means attracting staff already working within the business to apply for the new job.
-staff can be attracted to a new position theough the business newsletter
-workers may be invited to apply for
promotion positions
- New vacancies may be announced in meetings
or pinned to notice boards
What is external recruitement
-Internal candidates may not have skills set required for a new position
-vacanacy may have to be advertised externally if there is no-one suitable already working in the business
-external recruitment may be through adverts,newspapers,adverts onljne or dven with recruitement agencies
-fresh candidates can bring new ideas and enthusiasm
-external candidates have not become tired or bored with the work and are enthusiastic so work harder

What is job analysis
Job analysis is a process to identify and determine in detail the particular job duties and requirements and the relative importance of these duties for a given job.
What is person specification
-when business wants to recruit a new member of staff they will write a person specification
-putlines the-personal qualities, qualifications, work experience and skills.
-this is a wish list of qualities that the business would like the new member to staff to have
What is job description
-as part of the recuitement process the business will also write a job description
-this describes the duties and responsibilities of the role
-it also describes what the new employee would do on a day-to-day basis
Benefits lf an effective recruitement process
-high productivity
-high quality output
-better customer service
-staff retention

❑ Effective recruitment should hire employees that can produce high quality output – this is especially

Advantages–good way to keep costs down while a business is growing
-part-time jobs attract a wide pool of applicants with experience and skills who might not want a full-time job
-flexible to respond to seasonal changes
Disadvantages–employees might not give the business the commitment and loyalty that a full-time worker would
-employee may work more ghan one job whivh would make them inflexible
-employee might leave if they find a full-time job

Advantages–great for a business hwere work can be unpredictable

Disadvantages–less commitment and loyalty from employees

Job share advantages and disadvantages
Advantages–greater productivity
-work-life balance
-creates loyalty
-combination of 2 skill sets
Disadvatages–might not get along
-personality difference=conflict
-hard to recruit employees for a job share
