Globalisation resulted in manufactured goods being produced more cheaply overseas, affecting manufacture in London.
How did employment change lead to changes in the London Docklands?
Employment change from the old economy to the new has also had profound impacts. Most people are now in higher income jobs and buy invest in their own property, leading to re-urbanisation.
How did inward migration cause changes in the London Docklands?
With a growing economy and ageing population has led to a need for overseas migrants to provide workers. Inward migration changes the character of places, however, it creates new identities.
