4.1.2 - variations in HS between income Flashcards
Life expectancy
Low income = more susceptible to issues causing fluctuations (war, conflict, infectious disease, etc.) - low LE + HALE.
- LE + HALE is higher in females across all income groups.
UFMR + morbidity
Higher in low + middle (malnutrition leads to lowering immune system = infectious disease).
- Death from infectious disease such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, etc.
- High income = M+M due to congenital malformations, premature birth, + accidental causes.
Adult M+M
Low income = double bod (communicable + non-communicable).
Double BOD
When conditions associated with both poverty + wealth exist side by side in one community such as obesity + malnutrition.
Maternal mortality
Low income = unsafe birthing procedures + lack of sufficient + available healthcare.
BOD
Low + middle - greate BOD + higher rates of DALY.
- Conditions contribute more to YLL than YLD due to fatalities.
High - low YLL as conditions can be treated.
