4.1 - parts of vascular plants Flashcards
what is the shoot system?
The plant, stem and leaves contain vegitive and reproductive parts of plants
What is the root system ?
Anchors the plants and absorbs nutrients and water, typically underground
what do vascolour plants contain? and what can the ____ transport?
Specialized cells can transport water, nutrients, minerals and exhange gasses
what are the two main tissues in vasular plants?
-Xylem
-Phloem
Where does food reproduction occur? via what?
Food production happens in the leaves of the shoot system, via photosynthesis
how does sugar gets transferred
Phloem
Where does absorbtion occur? and what is absorbed? where?
Absoribtion occurs in the root system. Watr and minerals are absorbed from the soil and moved to the root to the shoots
what is a xylem?
A xylem transports water and minerals from roots to shoots
what is a phloem?
A phloem transports sugar and nutrients within the plants
