THE GOOD LEARNER’s characteristics (7)
- Try to guess when they don’t know something
- Try to get the message although their limited knowledge
- Are prepare to make mistakes
- Try to figure out how language works
- Practise whenever they can
- Analyse the way they and others talk
- Have a good self-image and confidence
What is APTITUDE?
-A natural ability or talent for something (language learning).
Name the Multiple Intelligences (by Howard Gardner) and explain each one
Bodily-Kinaesthetic, interpersonal, existential, logical-mathematical, musical, naturalist, spatial, intrapersonal, linguistic.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) - Founders: Richard Bandler and John Grinder
Is a model for psychotherapeutic counselling, used to explain learner differences. ‘All people respond to the same stimuli: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory, and gustatory. One of this VAGOK elements has more power than the others.
What to do about DIFFERENCES?
It is not a good idea to ‘label’ students, it can be limiting.
It is better to expose all students to activities that offer a variety of learning opportunities.
Teachers should encourage learner autonomy by offering LEARNING TRAINING.
