Increased osteoclastic resorption of bone and replacement of fibrous tissue
Causes of fibrous osteodystrophy
Hyperparathyroidism
Primary: Rare
Secondary: Nutritional or Renal
What type of diet can cause nutritional osteodystrophy
low in Calcium or high in Phosphorus
Both increase parathyroid hormone causing bone resorption
Infectious necrosis of bone
Osteomyelitis
Non-infectious necrosis of bone
Hypertrophic osteoystropy
Primary and secondary neoplasia
Primary: Osteosarcoma
Secondary: Metastacic
