Pyro Emergency, immediate jettison possible?

Pyro A

In the interests of flight safety or to prevent injury, the WSOp may jettison the pyrotechnic immediately and then notify the Captain.

WSOp Reports “Pyrotechnic Emergency”

PF Report “Clear to jettison”

PF/PM Don FFQDM/PMOR a/r

WSOp Reports “Pyrotechnics jettisoned”

PM Marks jettison position.

WSOp Reports “Pyrotechnic Emergency unable to jettison”

PF Report “Clear to jettison on the green light”

PF/PM Don FFQDM/PMOR a/r

PM “RED ON”

WSOp Reports “Leaving intercom”

WSOp Dons dispatcher’s harness, dons PBE or FFQDM attached to Fire fighting oxygen bottle, jacket, hood and gloves as required.

PM Depressurises the ac and:
TACT Depress, select rate as required
Descend aircraft below 8000ft pressure altitude
Identify suitable area (over sea if practicable)
Yellow on

PM Once aircraft is below 150 KIAS (Target 130 KIAS) and depressurised and co-configured for dispatch. “GREEN ON”

WSOp Opens most appropriate ac exit (consider request PM open ramp/door”

WSOp Despatches the pyrotechnic through the most appropriate ac exit

WSOp Reports “Pyrotechnics jettisoned”

PM Marks jettison position.

  1. Subsequent actions:
    Crew action the ‘SMOKE CARGO SMOKE DRILL’. Pilots to action their elements of the smoke cargo smoke drill, independently of WSOp, if necessary. WSOp is to return to the ac oxygen system and intercom as soon as practicable.

Load emergency, hang up?

A

Hang up

In the event of a hang up of the containers/rope after or during despatch the following actions are to be carried out:

WSOp Reports “Load Emergency, Hang up” and gives brief description of the event.

PF Maintains dropping speed and height and follows hold pattern racetrack replies “Inform me when ready to proceed”

WSOp Reports to Captain whether hang up is endangering the aircraft or personnel and Reports if there is a container in the water.

WSOp When ready, Reports “Hang up ready to be cut free.”

Captain Orders: “Cut free the hang up” immediately if the hang up is endangering the aircraft or personnel.

Or

“Go around” and attempt to drop at the correct Release Point, if hang up is not endangering the aircraft.

WSOp Reports “Hang up cut free, load gone, static lines and ropes clear”.
