Planning : deciding what the organisation is going to do. Essentially a thinking process used to decide:
What should be done
When it should be done
Where it should be done
How it should be done
Who should do it
The advantages of planning
*Organisation is forced to consider the fluctuation external environment
*Organisation is guided by orderly and logical activities
*makes it easier for employees to work as a team
*Organisation is able to operate in a more economical way
*Control and supervision of employees are made easier
Requirements for successful planning
- Goals and objectives must be clear
- Activities must be logical and simple to understand
- Plans must be flexible in order to adapt to changing circumstances
- Plans must be in writing
- Plans must be specific
- Goals and objectives must be achievable
- Plans must be accepted by all employees
- Plans must indicate procedures
- Plans must be followed by all
- The best plan must be formulated after weighing up alternatives
ORGANISING
Deciding how the organisation is going to implement the plans
Leading
Ensuring that the HR in the organisation are willing and able to implement the plans
Controlling
Measuring how well the organisation is doing in implementing the plans
