A

disability adjusted life years (DALY) = combine years of life lost prematurely + years of life lived with disability

A

in children boys have more prevalent but in adults women have more prevalent (get more severe form so more likely to be hospitalized than males)

A

high mortality - very low 5 year survival because most of them diagnosed at very late stage

is their difference in smoking in well deprived and least deprived areas?

A

smoking rates very massively from deprived areas (more deprived have more smoking)

child in more deprived areas are more likely to grow up around smokers, have a mother that smoked in pregnancy so more likely to smoke themselves

is vaping still thought to help smoking cessation - what is problem with it?

A
  • though to now not help smoking cessation (might even reduce smoking cessation)
  • high prevalence among teenagers + young adults →addictive, easy to obtain

anecdotal evidence of wheeze, SOB, reduced oxygen stats
