4 Automatic Flight Flashcards
C/O (change over switch) IAS/Mach display
- auto change over:
- underspeed
- overspeed
- blank when’
- display range
A - above FL260
U - “A”, select Vmin + 15kts to get rid of “A”
O - “8”, by selecting VMO or MMO limit, landing gear limit, flap limit
B - VNAV, FMC SPD, 2 ENG GA
D - 100 KIAS - VMO in 1 KIAS increment
.60M - MMO in 0.01 M increments
n1 mode engages automatically:
depressing N1/SPEED
- will cause:
- engaging VNAV in climb
- engages LVL CHG (except first 2.5min after Takeoff)
D - A/T in arm MODE
Speed mode engages automatically:
- ALT ACQ/HOLD engages
- V/S engages
- G/S capture occurs
VNAV ARM CRITERIA
- valid flight plan has been entered
- performance data has been entered and executed
- both FD switches ON
- above 400’ SGL it will automatically engage
VNAV TERMINATED
- selecting another pitch mode
- glideslope capture
- reaching end of LNAV route
- transition to G/S when G/S is armed
- crosstrack twice the RNP value during PTH DESCENT with active leg with database vertical angle and no LNAN engaged
When pitch mode VNV SPD to ALT ACQ
- will:
during intermediate level off (not CRZ ALT) the autothrottle will targer IAS (in stead of MACH) even above automatic change over altitude. This could cause overspeed
ALT DISPLAY
- range
- arming
- altitude upon power applied
VERTICAL SPEED DISPLAY
- range
0 to 50.000 feet in 100 feet increments. Rotating ALT SELECTOR will arm V/S. Displays previous selected altitude upon power applied
VSD
- range -7.900 to +6.000 feet/minute. >1000 f/min increments of 100 feet, <1000 f/min increments of 50 feet
inhibited modes after G/S capture
ALT HOLD and LVL CHG
ALTITUDE INTERVENTION
- push during VNAV Climb
- every push deletes lowest ALT constraint (from FMC)
- if MCP ALT above current FMC ALT, FMC cruise altitude will be only increased (not decreased) to MCP cruise altitude
ALTITUDE INTERVENTION
- push during VNAV cruise
- if MCP set higher than FMC, FMC ALT will be the MCP ALT and aircraft will climb
- MCP ALT set to lower altitude, but at or above alt constraint and further than 50nm from TOD, the aircraft will descent with 1000 feet/min
- MCP ALT set to lower altitude and lower than als constraint and > 50nm will initiate a descent with 1000 feet/min until path intercept OR MCP ALT LEVEL OFF occurs
ALTITUDE INTERVENTION
- push during VNV descent
- every push deletes highest alt constraint
- aircraft currently at alt constraint and MCP lower, deletion will allow aircraft to further descent
FLYING VNV PTH and all altitude constraints deleted
VNV SPD
LNAV ARMING CRITERIA
-origin RWY in flight plan
- active route entered in FMC
- track of first leg within 5 degrees of runway heading
- both FD’s ON
- LNAV selected prior to TOGA
LNAV
-activated
- bank angle limits
activated at 50 feet RA
bank angle limited to 15 degrees < 200 feet
bank angle limited to 30 degrees > 200 feet
LNAV engagement in flight
LNAV disconnect
Engagement:
- within 3nm
- within 90 degrees from track outside 3nm
Disconnect
- route disconuity
- end of route
- loss of capture criteria
- intercepting APP cours
