S - PLI
Altitude alerting
- inhibited
I - when trailing edge flaps are extended to F25 or greater OR when G/S is captured
GPWS
- provides alerts based on
- alerts are for:
- Windshear warning priority over
P - Radio altitude and combination of: altitude, airspeed, glide slope deviation, and airplane configuration
Alerts are for:
- excessive descent rate
- excessive terrain closure rate
- altitude loss after Takeoff or Go-around
- unsafe terrain clearance when not in landing configuration
- excessive deviation below the ILS or GLS glide slope or the FMC generated flight path angle
- excessive deviation below glide path
W - over look-ahead terrain alert and radio altitude based alerts
Look-ahead terrain alerting

Based: on airplaneβs position, barometric altitude, vertical flight path, and ground speed
Look-ahead terrain alerting

- SINK RATE
- TOO LOW, FLAPS
- TOO LOW, GEAR
- TOO LOW, TERRAIN
ON ALL PULL UP ON BOTH ATTITUDE INDICATORS
PULL - follows SINK RATE alert if excessive descent rate continues, follows radio altitude based TERRAIN alert if excessive terrain closure continues
TERRAIN - Excessive terrain closure
DONβT SINK - Excessive altitude loss after takeoff or go-around
GLIDESLOPE - deviation below GS or GP, ground proximity light cancels or inhibits below 1000βRA when pushed
SINK RATE - excessive descent rate
TOO LOW, FLAPS - unsafe terrain clearance at low airspeed with flaps not in normal landing position. Push flap inhibit, inhibits the alert
TOO LOW, GEAR - unsafe terrain clearance at low airspeed with LG not down. Push gear inhibit inhibits the alert
TOO LOW, TERRAIN - unsafe terrain clearance at high airspeed with either LG not down or flaps not in LDG position. Follows DONβT SINK if another descent is initiated after initial alert
