  • Epidemics of cholera & typhoid
  • Young at risk from dehydration due to diarrhoea
  • High air pollution levels – kerosene used for cooking, * high emissions from the city
  • Poor diets- rice & vegetables, little fresh protein
  • few homes have toilets ut are often run for profit by local businesses.
  • Toilets often flush int streets or Ciliwung river so human waste often mixes with drinking water.
  • Hot and humid conditions mean that malaria is a threat → kerosene used in homes for cooking and lighting is a major source of pollution
