3.9 Geo Maps + 3.10 Designing Stories w/ Best Practices Flashcards
What 2 types of Geo models are supported
- Local models using a manual upload
2. Models by live data connection using SAP HANA as a datasource
Two ways to geo enrich using location data:
- by coordinates
- by area name
Geomap layer types (6)
- Bubble - colour, opacity, size
- heat map - colour visualizes density
- Choropleth - blocks of shading to diff geo locations
- Points of interest
- Feature Layer - external data from valid service URLS. Layers on top of map to add context
- Flow - connections between two points
What information (columns) is needed in the file used to enrich model with geo data (.xslx or a .csv)
- unique Location ID
- lat
- long
What is the current limitation of geo enriching data with names
- Limited to the US
- Cannot drill below city level
What is a point of interest
Geographical data that can be added to a geo map and analyzed with reference to business data from the model
how do you add a point of interest (source types)
- Esri shapefile
- CSV
- Excel
- SAP HANA model with geo dimension
International Business Communication Standards (IBCS) rules are broken up into 3 categories:
- Conceptual
- Perceptual
- Semantic
What 4 key areas do the IBCS rules (Conceptual, Perceptual, Semantic) apply?
- messaging
- structure
- visual design
- notation
Examples of IBCS rules:
- clear message
- well defined title concept
- time is always horizontal axis
- columns: actuals = solid, forecast = hatched
- red and green for variances
- visually linked comments with corresponding widgets
