3.8 Linking and Blending Data in Stories Flashcards
What are the two requirements for a linked analysis
- all components involved are based on the same data model
OR - filter is created on a linked dimension
What is blending
- join a primary data source with secondary data source that contain common linked dimensions.
- can be done with individual tables or charts
Where does the blending of two models/datasets occur
it only occurs within a story, original models are not modified and a new model is not created
Common uses for blending (4)
- compare SAP actuals with non-SAP plan data
- compare sales against external data source
- create custom calcs based on KPI from diff models
- using Smart Predict to output predictions in a dataset, and blending predictions with other datasources/into a story
What levels can linked dimensions be used (3)
- story
- page
- linked analysis
Link types (3) and what they return.
- Primary data
- Intersecting data only
- All data
In this example, what would a Linked Dim - Primary data return?
Model1 Model2
Red Red
Blue Green
Red, blue
In this example, what would a Linked Dim - Intersecting data return?
Model1 Model2
Red Red
Blue Green
Red only
In this example, what would a Linked Dim - All data return?
Model1 Model2
Red Red
Blue Green
Red, Blue, Green
When creating linked dimensions for SAP BW data sources, you can choose to link on matching hierarchies
True
When is linked analysis available (2)
- when you have multiple widgets from the same model
- when your widgets are from diff models but the models are blended
