3.8 - Germany Wind Energy Flashcards
How much did renewables subsidisation change by?
3.5% to 30% in 2015
Germany did what to reduce wind energy investors’ payback time
Increase energy prices so consumers paid, and businesses earned, more to decrease it from 20 years
Germany now have what aim
40-50% of wind energy by 2025
Germany want to do what to nuclear?
Phase it out but this means temporarily using more coal and ga stations increasing bad environmental impacts
However Germany aren’t doing anything with?
Getting consumers to be more ‘green’ e.g. electric cars, solar panels?, insulation
Government want to replace feed-in tariffs with what?
Getting investors to bid against each other to build new solar/wind to increase efficiency
Problems with global agreements
Countries have other priorities like economic growth
Developing argue they don’t contribute to GHG much
Many countries/consumers can’t afford renewables as more expensive than FF
Countries still have FF reserves they want to use
