Q

How to make insoluble salt crystals by precipitation?

A
  • Mix the two solutions together. Each solution should contain one of the ions needed to make the precipitate.
  • The salt precipitate will sink to the bottom.
  • Filter out the salt precipitate. The residue is the salt we want to keep. the filtrate is the leftover solution.
  • Rinse the salt with water. It doesn’t dissolve because it is insoluble.
  • Dry the salt by dabbing it with a paper towel.
