What is the relative charge of a proton?
+1
What is the relative charge of a neutron?

Where are protons found in an atom?
In the nucleus
Where are neutrons found in an atom?
In the nucleus
Where are electrons found in an atom?
Energy levels or electron shells
What is the Atomic number?
The number of protons
What is the Mass number?
The total number of protons and neutrons
What is an isotope?
Atoms with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons
What is RAM?
Relative Atomic Mass of an atom is the average mass of an atom of an element, taking into account the different masses of each isotope
How is RAM calculated?
Using the mass number of each isotope and their % abundance in nature.
For example - chlorine has two isotopes:
Isotope Mass %abundance
Chlorine-35 35 75
Chlorine-37 37 25
So: RAM = ((75/100) x35) + ((25/100) x37) = 35.5
