A03 for Prisons??

A

+ Prisons choose when prisoners eat, sleep, excersie - can be easily enforced so social control is high
+ Some prisons focus more on rehabilitation
- Overcrowding 1993 was 43,000 2019 is 83,00 - more prisoners than guards means lack of rule enforcement - less social control
- Doesnt address rehabilitation - mental health needs, substance dependancy isnt addressed.
Cant/dont follow social control when out of prison - back in prison - cycle lack of social control
- Corruption - drug/phone black market - 2022-2023 had 264 assaults on guards and 277 assaults per prisoners is 2/3 higher than a decade ago - high offences within the prison show no social control.

A03 for Charities and Pressure Service??

A

+ those who started the charities care strongly - motivated and work harder - more funding more goals so more social control
+ Pressure groups know they cna change the law - snowdrop campaign - current presuure groups inspired by this so can keep gov and public aware of current issues
- Charities rely on donations and grants for fundong but competiion is strong - so some may not get what they need - cant promote issue so on traction - fails
- Pressure groups can only suggest/influence not force so social control is easily ignored. Some tehcnoques o do this may annoy public - Just Stop Oil
- Charities also rely on volunteers if they do not get enough they will struggle to run an organisation. This means effort will collapse - no social control
