Arcuate fasciculus
Connects Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas, allowing pt to speak coherently and understand whats being said, and then respond appropriately
Prosody
Normal melodious intonation of speech that conveys meaning
Auditory agnosia
Inability to ID something, but can still perceive it/hear it
Cause of auditory agnosia
Bilateral lesions to anterior superior temporal lobes
Example of auditory agnosia
If someone was speaking in another language, you can hear it but cant understand it
Presentation of Broca’s aphasia
Short phrases, often leave out non-essential words, can become frustrated bc comprehension is still intact, respond best with yes or no questions
