Explain standard operating procedures/work instructions and give some examples.
Documentation a company keeps that explain the network configurations, special instructions, and contact information of administrators. There will also be detailed floor plans with all the devices and cabling mapped out.
What is change management documentation?
Documentation that keeps track of changes like hardware, installations, upgrades, and software patches.
What is the difference between a logical and physical network map?
A logical map provides a broad illustration of the network from a high level. It will include the entire WAN layout. A physical map is more detailed and shows all devices and connections.
What are diagram symbols?
Symbols that allow you to demonstrate the network topology to a third party.
What are rack diagrams?
A diagram of the IDF/MDF racks and all their connections.
What are network configuration and performance baselines?
Baselines that have been set in the past which you can compare your current network performance to. This will allow you to make adjustments to the network to best suit the needs of the company.
Explain inventory management.
Inventory management is keeping track of all the company’s assets. More often than not, this includes EVERYTHING, not just the IT stuff.
