Q

What is a load balancer? What does it do?

A

Load balancers are used in multiple server settings, where if one server should fail, the remaining servers will work through the balancer. It can also be configured to take the encryption work off of the servers to increase efficiency. They can also cache client requests so that servers aren’t hit with repeat requests from multiple clients. (What is 2+2?, etc.)
